A team of international journalists must convince the world that a nuclear war has broken out in order to stop a global nuclear conflict. The movie follows a team of international journalists who must find a way to stop the world from going to war after it is believed there was a nuclear attack. Sean Stone, son of famous director Oliver Stone, directed this film. The cast features actors from Canada, Russia, Israel and many other European countries. The film was released in 1999 and it has been screened at festivals around the world. On June 1, 2014, South Park Studios released a film from the same director. The film is based on a short story written by Tomonori Sugiyama. In this story, a team of international journalists must find a way to prove that there was no nuclear attack and stop things from going to war after it is believed there was a nuclear attack. The film has the same basic premise as this story but does not contain any real references to it and is not considered part of the book series.A young Sean Stone began his career as an actor in his father's "Gimme Shelter" (1970). His acting career continued until 1985 when the actor took over directing duties for "Running Man" (1984). Stone then worked on "Restraining Order", starring Robert De Niro, Meryl Streep, Chris Walken and Meg Ryan in 1989. He also produced two films in 1990, "Cape Fear" with Robert Mitchum and Kevin Spacey, and his father's "The Doors" based on the band of the same name. Stone is also credited with directing the documentaries ""The Producers"" (1965) starring Zero Mostel, Shelley Berman and Gene Wilder, ""The Films of Oliver Stone"" (1982) featuring Woody Allen. His son Sean was appointed director for this film. This movie was produced by Scott P. Harris and Sean Stone in 1999. It was distributed by Canadian company Maple Pictures. The film had a budget of $14,000,000 and made $9,201 in Italy its opening weekend. The film was nominated for best time-capsule movie at the Giffoni Film Festival in 1999 and for best drama at the Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival in 2001. The film has been shown in Canadian International Kids Film Festival and the Rhode Island International Film Festival and won awards at both festivals: best sound at Rhode Island and “Best Canadian” short fiction film at Vancouver International Kids Short Film Festival. The movie also won best sound effects editing award from "Cutting Edge". The film was featured at the Atlantis Film Festival in Porto, Portugal and at the International Film Festival of Saint Petersburg in Russia. It was also shown at the Tromso International Film Festival in Norway and the Rome International Sci-Fi & Fantasy Film Festival in Italy. The movie won an award at each of these festivals: best short film and best special effects at Tromso and second place for sound effects editing. The movie won awards from "Cutting Edge" for Best Sound Effects Editing and Best Dubbing during the Ottawa Cinefest on November 8, 2001.
